Delays on Canandaigua Boat Launch ?

The boat launch at Canandaigua Lake State Marine Park was scheduled to be reopened in January.  Changes in the design have put the contractors behind and the launch may not be open now until June 1, 2012.

This is the only public boat launch at the North end of Canandaigua Lake.  The other public launch is about 15 miles South in the hamlet of Woodville. If your boat is too large, you will not be able to launch from here.  Seager Marina at the North end near the Canandaigua Lake State Marine Park will be seeing a loss of revenues, with fewer boats needing fuel and boating supplies.

Since I sell lakefront properties on Canandaigua Lake, I do occasionally read the fishing forums to see what fish are being caught and where they are being caught.  I can then pass this information onto my buyers that are fishermen and women.  It always helps to have that little bit of extra knowledge.

It seems that many are heading over to Keuka Lake to fish and as a bonus scoring big.  I am hoping that the boat launch opens up sooner than later for the benefit of everyone. This is a costly undertaking that should have been planned out a little better.

There will be many boaters scrambling to get their boats in the water and having nowhere to go but pay the marinas.  There are already some boats out and they are waterskiing already, yes in March waterskiing on Canandaigua Lake.  Let us all hope for an early completion and another safe boating season on Canandaigua Lake.
