Seneca Lake Wine Trail Events …

Wine trail events are a great way to introduce new people to the area and sometimes to wine itself.  The Seneca Lake Wine Trail has put together their main events for the year, and yes you will find your favored events still going strong.  If you are in possession of a Polar Passport, it is still valid until March 31, 2013.

Celebrating 25 years last year as an official wine trail, the wineries have reprinted their highly requested cookbook filled with over 200 tasty recipes as well as wine pairing suggestions.  This cookbook can be purchased at any member winery for a reasonable price.

Remember to choose a designated driver and if you have a group, you may want to consider renting a limo – leave the driving to them.  There are also many great and relaxing places to stay in the Seneca Lake area from B & B’s to vacation homes and Inns.

So come visit us and see what the wineries have to offer this year. You may even decide to purchase your own vacation home ,,,

MacKenzie-Childs Annual Barn Sale

The long-awaited sale, well at least since last year.  For many women and men, this is a must attend event.  I just read comments on Facebook and one woman stated that this sale is on her “bucket” list.  If you like the style, you can easily become hooked.  It is also a style that is easily recognizable with buyers coming from LA on the West Coast and even Europe.  Wise buyers set up their vacation in the Finger Lakes, giving them no reason to miss this great sale.   And where else do you see glitz and glam standing in line waiting for the doors to open ?  Prepare to see hundreds of high-end vehicles, mostly SUV’s (for the seasoned buyers) lined up along State Route 90.  Yes, there will be that many attending.  Like I said, this is a widely awaited event and it only happens once a year.

This year seasoned shoppers will be stopping at the new Longaberger Outlet Store in the Waterloo Outlet Mall as well.

For those that have not experienced the MacKenzie-Childs phenomenon, this store designs everything from furniture to candlesticks in a very unique and whimsical style.

And for those that are really hooked and would love to enjoy an entire estate designed by Richard and Victoria, there is currently one for sale and I would love to show it to you.  It would be perfect for a summer get-a-way or even a fun Bed and Breakfast.  Either way it is a wonderful, sprawling estate just down the road from your favorite store.  Even though it is filled with classic MacKenzie-Childs pieces, I am sure there is always room for updating or just adding a little more.  For more information about this spectacular listing, click on this link MacKenzie-Child Estate .

Hammondsport – Keuka Lake – The “Coolest Small Town” In America Celebrates June 30th, 2012

Mark your calendars for June 30th, 2012 for of the best events on Keuka Lake this year.

Join us on June 30th from Noon ~ 6pm for the

“Coolest Small Town in America” Celebration!

Hammondsport is inviting everyone near and far to come and celebrate with them, their newest designation “The Coolest Small Town” in America.

Ok , actually they share that designation with Beaufort, NC in a contest sponsored by Budget Travel.  It was a well publicized contest that sent their server into a tizzy and actually caused it to crash.  And that is besides the point.  Hammondsport will be celebrating as if they were the only number one coolest place, just as we believe they are.

Hammondsport sits at the South end of Keuka Lake, and is known for its delightful proximity to wine and water.  The water graces its shores and the vineyards sweep up into the hills offering some of the most beautiful and panoramic views from many vantage points.    This is part of the second largest wine-producing area in the country, the Finger Lakes.  To add to the ambience of Keuka Lake and the renowned wineries, you will find mouth-watering restaurants serving up delectable delights, breweries that serve up craft ales, fun gift shops to browse, antiques and the Curtiss Museum.

There will be food, fun, music and fireworks.  For age appropriate adults there will be a beer and wine tent offering local beer and wines.  For more information visit the Hammondsport Chamber of Commerce page and we hope to see you there !
