Kind of a confusing question – right ? Well, this happens. A property gets listed for sale and because of addressing errors or 911 changes, the property shows up on a map nowhere near where it should be. What Keuka Lake property owner with a home for sale wants any confusion when it comes to the location of their property for sale ? None !
A recent experience for me, was when mapping out some properties for a client for Seneca Lake properties. On the map, one of the properties showed up on Keuka Lake. They first wanted to discount the property because it was supposedly on the wrong lake. I reassured them that it was definitely on Seneca Lake. Guess what ? They absolutely loved the property and it is their favorite to write an offer on. Now what if they decided not to look at it based on the mapping location?
Sellers are also affected when the property does not map out correctly. The aerial map above marks out where a listing is located on East Bluff on Keuka Lake. Not only is the marker on the wrong side of the road, I do not even see the correct property in the picture.
If you want to work with a dedicated Realtor, that insures your property has the right information, is mapped correctly and uses professional photographers, then contact me to set up an initial consultation. The Strawberry Cottage as it has been known for many years and recently the Victorian Cottage is now for sale. It is MLS #195399 with an asking price of $648,888.00. The current owners have lovingly restored it and made it more energy efficient. It now has new bathrooms, kitchen, insulation and walls, floors, windows and porch. You will find the charm in every corner and nook of this pleasantly placed Victorian style cottage that sits at the water’s edge of Keuka Lake. By boat this cottage is easily recognizable with its distinctive red roof ( the reason why it has been called the Strawberry Cottage from back in the days when the roads were made of planks. The lovely lakefront home on Keuka Lake was featured on the Today Show by renowned real estate expert Barbara Corcoran.
This is how you would see the lake home now.
One of the most notable changes in the home, is the fireplace. It was built by the same craftsmen that did the masonry work for the famed Mirbeau Spa owners in Skaneateles.
From the fireplace you turn around and face the lake. You enter the spacious covered porch through brand new energy-efficient French doors. Oh my, the views are just amazing through these doors.
Once through the French doors yu will immediately see the craftmanship of the hardwood porch and rails. Most of the details from the original porch were maintained.
The kitchen is where so much happens and the source of fun meals. The entire kitchen was replaced and redone. A very updated charming kitchen for your lakefront cuisine.
What a difference right ? Now lets see a little of the dining room area.
Now lets turn towards the stairwell. It was painted with a funky rainbow scheme and now is representative of the Victorian period. Notice the new windows, very energy-efficient.
Besides a full downstairs bathroom that has been redone, there is also a new bathroom upstairs.
The bedroom is now bright and airy with views to Keuka Lake. Paint, windows and curtains make so much difference along with new floors.

Last year was a record fail on Keuka Lake when it comes to ice, it never came. This year because of the hiatus last year, the ice fishermen and women were biting at the bit to get out there with the first signs of ice. When the ice came, it spread fast, causing a whole new frenzy of activities. They were back ( including me). They came out to fish (mostly), they cleared patches of snow on the ice to ice skate, they came out to walk and like me they brought their dogs out on the ice, so that they could run around freely without the worry of cars.
Ice fishing is an entire subset of fishing. Some folks will only ice fish. Keuka Lake is not like some of the other winter areas where the lakes freeze for the entire season and complete villages pop up. But it does enjoy the portable fishing life with the colorful little huts, red and orange flags from the pop ups and colorful sleds to pull the gear around.
You will see people out on the ice with augers ( they drill a hole in the ice ) both manual and gas-fired. That is where they will drop their lines in to catch fish. Some folks will sit out in the sun on lawn chairs and others will bring their cute little pop-up tents that will protect them from the elements.
The colors of the apparatus brightens up the grayness of the day.
Sometimes the fishermen and women are successful and can go home with the night’s dinner.
If you would like to find your vacation/get-a-way home to enjoy both Summer and Winter activities, just contact me via email, text or phone. I look forward to hearing from you. Now off to see what is going on, on Keuka Lake !
You will most likely run into someone you know, yes even on the ice !
