Current Mortgage Rates In The Finger Lakes

As Realtors, we keep thinking that the rates will start an uphill climb any day.  Just when they start to inch up, they fall right back down again.  It makes my script real easy, no changes” If you are thinking about buying, now is the time while rates are low and prices are down.”

So here my dear friends are some current rates from Fairport Mortgage provided by Aaron. Stop by and see my friends at Fairport when looking for your mortgage on your new vacation home in the Finger Lakes.

The Newest Trend In Fishing Boats For The Finger Lakes

You have seen paddle boats in ponds and lakes.  They  usually consist of 2 seats, you get in and with leg power pedal around in circles enjoying the view and obtaining a little exercise at the same time.  Well the newest trend in fishing boats uses pedal power, looks like a kayak and the best part – it uses no gas !

I have thought about learning to kayak for a long time.  I have so many friends that paddle around the lake and it is a great relaxing form of exercise.  With Keuka Lake just outside my back door, I really should make this a priority.  Now with this pedal drive system, it makes owning a kayak a little more enticing. I could use it for a form of relaxation and exercise and Kirk can use it for fishing.

You would be limited to the amount of equipment to take with you, but you would never have to worry about the gas can.  I really like that part of the equation, especially with the price of gas.  This would be easily transported from one lake to another, or to take with you to another state when going on vacation, it can be used for more than just fishing, it takes no gasoline, you can quietly sneak up on the fish and it adds a healthy element to your lifestyle.

I have attached a neat video from Native Watercraft that makes this new trend in fishing boats –

This would be a great addition to your Lakefront Home .  For owners that have their homes in vacation rental programs, what a great asset this would be for potential renters.

National Fishing and Boating Week

National Fishing and Boating week occurs on the first full week of June every year.  This year the dates are June 2-10,2012.  What a great reason to experience the love of fishing and boating.  Go ahead , gather some friends or family and get out on the water, the experience is worth it.

Girls, boys, men or women, fishing and boating are open to everyone to enjoy.  The Finger Lakes offer miles and miles of boating opportunities from shallow, weedy lakes like Honeoye Lake to cavernous cold lakes Seneca Lake and Cayuga Lakes.

  • Find Your Boat – Take a look at Boat Explorer and watch a DVD that will help determine the best boat for you and your family.

  • Make Memories – Bring the young ones a long, you will have as much fun as them.  Record the day and share the video with other family members over a bowl of popcorn.

  • Buy A Fishing License – When you purchase a license, the money goes to conservation programs, fish hatcheries, studies on invasive species and clean water programs.  All of these programs work to insure you have a great fishing experience now and for your children.

  • Discover A New Hot Spot – Find a new place to pull in the catch of the day by using the Hotspot Map.

  • Learn From Others – visit Take Me Fishing.Org for all kinds of resources, maps and information.

Of course the best place to take off from in your boat, is of course your very own lakefront property.  Call me when you are ready to purchase your own lakefront home.  What is better than a boat and a dock ?  A house with a boat and a dock !  – Oh yes, my favorite….Keuka Lake …perch from the cold waters of Winter.

Canandaigua Lake Statistics

As you can see by looking at the charts below, the housing crisis barely affected sales on Canandaigua Lake.  And how wonderful for sellers to be looking at an average sale price above $700,000. Of course to support those prices, you have absolutely lovely homes and lakefronts.  Some of the most gorgeous home on the Finger Lakes will be found on Canandaigua Lake.

If you are interested in purchasing a great vacation home on Canandaigua Lake, give Ray Leone or myself a call.  If you are around the lake, you may even see us out and about showing homes.   Canandaigua is not called the “Chosen Spot” for nothing.  It is a place you have to see and experience.
